This is the guide to follow if you want to learn how to do it. We hope you enjoy working with us on this tutorial on how to draw a pigeon!
How to Draw A Pigeon
Step 1
To begin this tutorial on how to draw a pigeon, let’s start with the bird’s head and neck. Let’s start with the head first.
We’ll draw it with curved and rounded lines to create its outline. Then you can use straighter lines for the pigeon’s beak.
The beak will also have a small rounded shape at the top.
Once the head is drawn, you can draw more curved lines down for the shape of the neck and back, then add a stripe at the neck.
Once you’ve replicated the lines in this step, you can move to step 2!
Step 2
In this second step, we will add more parts to the pigeon drawing. First, you can start by drawing a small circle for the pigeon’s eye. Then you can add a small dot to this circle for the eye pupil.
With a good eye, we will then draw the legs of the pigeon, and these will have a feathered part on top. This step is then completed with more curved lines for the backup to the tail.
Step 3
Pigeons wouldn’t get far without wings, so we will draw one in this step of our How to Draw a Pigeon guide.
The wing is drawn with a long, slightly curved line inside the body outline.
Once you have the wing outline, you can make it more realistic by adding smaller curved lines for the feather details.
That’s all for now, so we’ll keep adding some details and elements in the next few steps.
Step 4
You’ll add more feather detail to the wing in this part of your pigeon design.
We’ll add some smaller curved lines you added in the previous step, but they have slightly different shapes.
With that, the details for the wings are done, and in the next step, we will add some final details and extra elements that you need to complete before coloring your pigeon!
Step 5
It’s almost time to color your picture, but first, we need to add some final details in this step of our How to Draw a Pigeon guide.
First, let’s start by refining the outline of the pigeon’s body by finishing the line at the bottom of the pigeon.
You can then draw another section of the tail feathers, starting from the end of the tail. Once you’ve added it, you can finalize some details before proceeding.
The last few details in this guide are some lines on the pigeon’s legs and feet for some texture detail. That concludes the details of this guide, but you don’t have to stop here!
You can complete this step by adding some details and custom elements, and there are plenty of ideas to inspire you.
Some ideas might be drawing other pigeons or painting yourself feeding the pigeon some breadcrumbs.
Step 6
Pigeons are known to have a more muted color scheme, and that’s exactly what we chose in our example image.
Even if you decide to go with those darker shades of gray and blue, there are ways to incorporate lighter colors into your pigeon drawing!
Drawing additional details or elements could be a great way to add more color to the image. Coloring the background details you drew also works great.
You could even opt for a more stylish look and use your favorite bright colors for the pigeon instead!
